St. James’ applied for and was awarded a very generous grant of $15,000 from the Anglican Foundation of Canada
towards our Renovation project. Both Marcus Owen and Tom Pound were instrumental in preparing and presenting our project to the Diocese of Montreal to have their support for our application.
We expect to receive a plaque from the Foundation very shortly and it will be mounted with pride in the church. Our Anglican Foundation Liaison, Ruth Sheeran, visited St. James’ on October 11th and was welcomed at the 11:00 a.m. service.
More information about the Foundation can be found on our website
under Christian Organizations.
We just wanted to update you on the latest news of our renovation progress.
Some of you have heard that the “pews are gone from St James’” and we would like to let you know that no decisions have yet been taken on the final configuration of our worship seating.
Your Corporation was given the responsibility by Eleanor at the start of our project to oversee the renovations for the benefit of our church and its current and future members. We are taking advantage of a rare opportunity to look at alternate configurations in the interest of Safety, Comfort and Flexibility for our current worship events, but also with a view “beyond the Present” to the future, as we work together to welcome others to worship with us.
We have heard from many of you as to what you would like to see in our church. We would also like to hear from others who do not currently worship with us, as to what would help them to feel welcome as well.
Much as we make small changes to our own surroundings and schedules when preparing to welcome guests, we need to anticipate what might help a newcomer to feel welcome in our midst.

At last February’s Vestry Meeting, we were told about renovations that would be happening to the interior of the Church this year and we are happy to advise that the work began Monday, April 13th. The Church itself is now “off limits” to all but authorized individuals involved in the renovation process. Activities will continue in both halls.
In the interim, Sunday services will be held in the Memorial Hall at St. James’.
Updates on our progress will be available here. Comments, questions or concerns sent to us via the Feedback form under the Contact Us tab on the website are always appreciated. Laurie Tomita (Rector’s Warden) or Nigel Holehouse (People’s Warden) can also be reached by leaving a message at the Parish Office (450-458-5897). We will do our best to respond quickly. For full notice from the wardens, click here.
