FAMILY BBQ AND STRAWBERRY SOCIAL:

The annual Family BBQ and Strawberry Social was a resounding success. More than 130 adults and many children of all ages enjoyed a pleasant summer evening on the beautiful grounds at the Rectory.

All were willing to help eat countless hamburgers and hot-dogs served along with (their own) potluck salads, followed up by strawberries with toppings of ice cream, cream, brown sugar and chocolate. And to everyone's delight, huge bowls of the now-famous Strawberry punches concocted for all guests and red and white wine were also on tap.

Our votes of thanks go to Fr. John and Karen Bradley who graciously greeted the crowds on their lawn and to the many volunteers help organize this memorable event.

New Organist & Choir Director:

The Search Committee (Glenna Vipond, Gwen Heinrich, Margaret Neal, Ruth Lewis and Graham Campbell) is very pleased to confirm that James Armstrong has been selected for the position of Organist / Choir Director for St. James' and St Mary's, and will be starting on the Sunday after Labour Day – 9 th September.

James is currently Music Director/Organist  at St. Michael and All Angels Church in Pierrefonds, where he has been for the past few years, and he comes highly recommended.

He was educated at Huron College (UWO) where he specialized in English Language and Literature, and honed his organ-playing skills while he was there. (He has previously played at St. Mary's as a replacement in the days of Shirley Taylor). At his audition at St. James' , his performance and personality impressed the Search Committee and the Choir alike, and we all look forward to welcoming James on Sunday 9 th September.
