THOUGHTS TO SHARE:
Ever wonder about the abbreviation A.S.A.P.? Generally we think of it in terms of even more hurry and stress in our lives. Maybe if we think of this abbreviation in a different manner, we will begin to find a new way to deal with those rough days along the way.
There's work to do, deadlines to meet, you've got no time to spare, but as
you hurry and scurry-
ASAP - ALWAYS SAY A PRAYER
It may seem like your worries are more than you can bear. Slow down and take
a breather-
ASAP - ALWAYS SAY A PRAYER
God knows how stressful life is. He wants to ease our cares, and He'll respond
to all your needs-
A.S.A.P. - ALWAYS SAY A PRAYER.

Doug joined the St. James congregation about three years ago as a friend, now fiance, of Shirley Dickenson. Doug was brought up in Kingston, Ontario, where he attended Sydenham United Church. He spent some 20 years in the Royal Canadian Navy as an administrator, living in Halifax, Ottawa, Vancouver and St.Agathe, retiring to Alexandria, Ontario until his recent engagement to Shirley.

OUR INSIDE SCOOP ON GENERAL SYNOD: by Kevin Ilaqua
I never expected to go to general synod, this may sound odd, but never in my wildest dreams did I expect to go. So out of the blue, when the opportunity came up, I said to myself, Sure I would love to go!
General synod was not what I expected at all, there were a fair amount of people, all were friendly and anyone was more then willing to offer a helping hand. I easily got acquainted with the settings, the surroundings, how things worked, and my binder of motions (of which I had received about 2 weeks before the actual synod.)
The election of a primate was something that particularly interested me, I (let
the truth be known) voted for Andrew Hutchison, who I thought would best lead
the Anglican Church of Canada, he has good set of values and ideas for the future
of the church, I myself have no problems leaving the church in his hands.
What really interested me at this synod, was the issue of Same-sex blessings
in the church, I was fully prepared on this issue upon arriving at synod, but
as upset as I am to say, The decision has been deferred to General synod 2007.
I myself find this completely unacceptable. The general synod is where motions
are brought to be decided, and a decision made, not to be deferred and procrastinated.
This issue needs resolution, as it is a big factor in today's society.
As for the experience, it would be something I would be willing to do again
tomorrow, and hopefully I will be the representative again at the 2007 General
synod.

Summer Service Hymns for the Young and Young at Heart:
Do of you remember "When Mother's of Salem", "Can a Little Child Like Me?", "Jesus Bids Us Shine" and "God Sees the Little Sparrow Fall"? We have found nine such favorites which have not been sung at St. Mary's or St. James' for some time because they are not included in the new Hymn Book. To set matters right, we have chosen a different one of them to be sung at each of the Summer Services in August (all 9:30 Services at St. Mary's). Come on along, and bring the young ones who may never have heard them. Let them join in with you and sing some favorites from your childhood and youth, which we know was not so long ago!
