UPDATE ON RESTORATION WORK AND OTHER PROJECTS AT ST. JAMES:
It is now three weeks into the project. Excellent progress is being made with the blessing of beautiful weather conditions so far. Completion date target of July 6th should be met providing nothing unexpected is encountered.
Initial application of some of the new mortar has begun on those areas of the steeple and front area that have been worked on. In the next two weeks it should become very obvious to the eye just how much work will have been completed.
Following the completion of the stonework, we will then commence the repair and painting of the tower window and four louvered openings. Inclusive in this work will also be the wood structure on the top of the tower along with the four metal pinnacles.
The new security system has been installed and is now active 24 hours a day. Rewiring of the fire alarm system is also underway.
A new copper cap on the chimney behind the small hall has been installed. The chimney itself will be re-pointed soon.
Work is also being performed on the rectory veranda, garage and garage doors.
SHOUT TO THE LORD!
We are so happy to have had such a great reaction to the new 4th Sunday communion service.
There is a committee which meets once a month to go over the content of future services and also a worship team which meets once a week to practice the music.
All of us love taking part and this service is something we have longed for and dreamt about doing for quite a while now.
Our aim is to provide an upbeat and uplifting service that is family friendly&.anyone from 9 months to 109 years old can enjoy this!
Keep an eye out for what we have planned in the next few months and to keep things from going stale we will be changing the name, logo's and some of the content. For instance, next month Jasmine is returning with her team/band. The last time she came the church was packed to the rafters; you will not want to miss out on being there!
If anyone has any ideas, feedback or would like to join the worship team, please do not hesitate to talk to James, Kelly or myself.
Peace, Elisa.
SOS FLOWERS NEEDED:
Once again the Floral Committee for the Homes Tour would appreciate any donations of flowers from your garden and/or lilacs. Buckets of water will be available in the church basement to put them in on Tuesday June 3rd. It would be a great help if you could remove the leaves from the lilacs before bringing them in.
NIMBLE NEEDLES:
Do you knit, crochet or sew? I would love to hear from you so that we could start projects to be ready for our Bazaar in November. I have wool and some fabric, please contact me, Isobel Wright at 450-458-7355,
