FROM THE RECTOR:

Karen and I were deeply moved at the community's tribute to my mother. It was all we could do to make our speeches. We are aware that people were there from the various churches. The choir was magnificent. Many helped in the service. The ladies of St James' and St Mary's presented a wonderful reception. As my mother said just before she died, “Thank you, thank you, thank you.”

The response of our community at special times is a unique part of the experience of living here. Fr Demers' roast is the latest example. The tribute for Tee Petrie filled St Mary's and there will be another event at the school.

As we enter the time of Passion and Resurrection, let us thank God for one another.

I would like to point out that, as your priest, I am ready to talk with anyone in total confidentiality. If I can help by listening, I am very willing to. Confession is a tradition in Lent. Just talking things over is very important sometimes. Call me, and we'll arrange a time to meet, even just to chat!

God bless you.

Fr John

MARK YOUR CALENDARS: SATURDAY, APRIL 24 TH , 9:30 A.M.

Last year the Parish of Vaudreuil was thrilled to have Kim Phuc, “The Girl in the Vietnam Picture.” For the final Eggs Benediction Speaker Series of this season, we are delighted to announce that Olympic Gold Medal winner and a Time Magazine cover hero, Mark Tewksbury will be visiting Hudson . A few members of the Parish have had the honor of hearing Mark speak at a convention in Toronto . Their comment was, “He simply blew us away.” He is humorous , dramatic and has a great story to tell. We are simply thrilled to have him come and speak about “Chasing your dreams, living life to its fullest!” This talk will be excellent for any teenagers in the Community of Hudson, but also for everyone else.

The event will be held on Saturday, April 24th, starting with breakfast at 9:30 a.m. , and the talk beginning at 10:00 a.m. Tickets are now available, but limited, and advertisement will start soon. Tickets are $15.00 each, available through the Parish Office at 450-458-5897.

Additional donations to offset Mr. Tewksbury's honorarium would be appreciated. Anyone wishing to help sponsor the event is asked to please contact Gay Elliott at 450-458-4192. (Tax receipts will be issued by the Church office.)

CONFIRMATION:

We are planning to prepare a group of young people (ages 12-15) for Confirmation. It is a time to look at the faith, and to be in a position to decide if they want to make this step or not.

If you are interested in being confirmed, or just to know more about the Christian faith, please call the office at 458-5897, or Fr John at 458-5372.

THOUGHTS TO SHARE

At the Muezzin's call to prayer

The kneeling faithful thronged the square

Upon Pescara 's lofty heights

A dark priest chanted Brahmin rites

Deep in the monastery's weeds

An old Franciscan told his beads

While to the Synagogue there came

A Jew to praise Jehovah's name

The one GREAT GOD looked down and smiled

And counted each his loving child

Moslem, Priest, Monk and Jew

Had reached him through the God they knew

Here's hoping that the effects of thinking in GLOBAL terms today will lead us to GLOBAL understanding and peace for mankind tomorrow. (submitted by Elizabeth Vere Price)

WE HAVE A NURSERY!

Spread the news! We now have a nursery at St. James during the 11:00 a.m. service!
