OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD:
Once again the St. James Church Women are sponsoring this worthwhile project. (Last year we collected 102 boxes, let’s beat that number this year). Shoe boxes will be available in the small hall at St. James and at St. Mary’s Church or you may use your own. (other suggestions are a back pack, large Tupperware container or small tool box).
Shoe boxes should be filled with simple, inexpensive gifts that will be useful and fun for children in Guinea, Ivory Coast, Haiti and Senegal. Ideas: toothpaste, toothbrush, soap, washcloth, small towel, comb, brush, pencils, sharpener, erasers, small stuffed toys, balls, puzzles, toy jewellery, hairclips, stickers, hard candy, note pads, baseball caps, t-shirts, socks.
Once filled they can be wrapped in Christmas paper (lid separately so that content can be checked) with label on top for “boy” or “girl” and marked for age group 2-4, 5-9 or 10-14 and dropped off in the small hall at St. James by Sunday November 12th.
Also a cheque for $5 payable to Samaritan’s Purse should be included in an envelope on top of the gifts inside the shoe box, placing a rubber band around the box and lid.
For more information contact Linda Cobbett 458-5100. Please nothing breakable, or used and no gum chocolate type candy that will melt.
