Progress Report

November 10, 2025

It has been many months since our last update on the building process and it would appear from the outside of the church that little has been happening…..be assured that this is not the case!!

Progress on the church rebuild following the fire of April 14th 2024 was quite rapid. Indeed the rebuild schedule called for the new roof to be in place by Christmas 2024. Although this deadline was not met due to supply chain and logistical issues the new roof in entirity was completed in May 2026. This stage allowed for the removal of the scaffolding, which had a very positive impact on the aesthetics and gave evidence to significant progress.

Shortly after the completion of the roof and as the result of an in depth survey by the architects and structural engineers we were presented with a report on the structural integrity of the masonry of the church superstructure. Unfortunately, however, not entirely surprisingly for a building dating back to 1842, the report highlighted issues that needed to be addressed for both safety and aesthetic reasons. The net result stemming from the original report is that the last six months have been occupied by highlighting and prioritizing the areas requiring repair and subsequently generating specifications and costing for the work; an excruciatingly time consuming process. We are pleased to report that work crews are now back on site and the masonry repair work is due to be finished by the end of the year.

Once the masonry work is completed the flooring of the church will be removed and repair work will be undertaken to shore up the floor structure, repair and stabilize the crawl space, install the mechanical room and the HVAC system.T his work is likely to take until the end of April to complete. Following this work the interior of the church will be completed.

All the above is to say that our hope to be celebrate Easter in the rebuilt church will very unfortunately not be realized, with a more realistic occupancy date being the fall of 2026.

While the last six months has been largely occupied by the church rebuild there has been continued work on developing concept plans for the rebuild of the in between space ,once occupied by the Memorial Hall.

We will continue to keep you updated as our plans solidify.
